Compounder & Pre-Weigh Manager

This person will manage and coordinates all compounding activities and staff by ensuring that batches are made in accordance with the production schedule, and meet all quality parameters in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ensures processes are in place to maximize department efficiencies to ensure that product batches are delivered on time in the most cost efficient and compliant manner

  • Knowledge of production, compounding and chemical handling/processing. Need to understand the process of formulation and proper blending of chemicals and ingredients to oversee making the product specifications; Adept at batch adjustment (pH, viscosity, color, fragrance, etc.)

  • Physical inspection of raw materials and release of raw materials in pre-weigh prior to compounding department use

  • Supervision and training of compounders and pre-weigh staff

  • Implementation of daily housekeeping and cleanliness of the pre-weigh, raw material storage, quarantine, powder, sanitation and compounding areas

  • Allocation/assignment of manpower and equipment

  • Batch compounding, product drumming, submission of lab samples

  • Maintenance of availability of DI water system, boiler, cooler, weight scales

  • Coordinate required maintenance and repairs of equipment with Maintenance Department

  • Represent the Compounding Department at management meetings

  • Provide management with status statistics of tank capabilities and limitations

  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to improve efficiencies and cut costs

  • Promotes safety and implements safety procedures

  • Possess practical knowledge of all batch categories including, but not limited to OTC and Medical Device

  • Assign Lot Numbers to batches and record/maintain Logbook

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Plant Manager

Education & Experience:

  • B.A Degree preferred

  • 5+ years' experience in a supervisory role in lieu of B.A

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Consumer-Packaged Goods Distribution environment, preferably with several years of compounding/mixing experience

  • Two years of Continuous Improvement, cGMP, Total Quality or Team Based Management experience or equivalent preferred

  • Must have good manual dexterity and mechanical skills

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
