Packaging Maintenance Set-Up Technician

The Packaging Maintenance Set up Technician needs significant experience troubleshooting and repairing automated packaging equipment. Candidates should have extensive experience with pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment. Experience in packaging cosmetics, toiletries and personal care products is a strong plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes advanced skills in operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining packaging equipment

  • Installation, evaluation, repair, maintenance and set-up of all packaging equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities for packaging equipment

  • Ability to understand and perform calibration of instrumentation

  • Assure the efficient set-up, running and maintenance of packaging lines

  • Demonstrate the ability to diagnose and determine the proper repairs/adjustments to packaging lines in order to keep equipment/lines running efficiently

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of production and plant processes

  • General understanding of; quality, sanitation, safety, cost management, waste control, equipment maintenance and production systems, is preferred


Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Packaging Maintenance is required

  • High School diploma - trade school experience

  • At least 3 years working experience in a mechanical, electrical and instrumentation/controls field

  • Robotics experience/training is preferred

  • Excellent Mechanical Skills with the ability to trouble shoot

  • General fabrication skills and understanding of FDA/OSHA/cGMP standards and regulations preferred

  • Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience

  • Must be detail-oriented

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a physical job and candidates must be able to lift and move equipment with assistive equipment up to 150 pounds

  • Extended periods of standing & bending
